Being able to keep your people motivated is a core skill for managers at all levels, not just for business motivational speakers! Several research studies have been done in this field and have revealed a handful of easy but really practical ideas for keeping workers content and fruitful, even in harsh business times.

Here’s a great tip from a business motivational speaker: When you have the opportunity to talk about personal issues with your personnel, listen when they expose to you what’s extremely important to them. This will afford you tremendous insight into the types of things that would motivate them. Quite a lot of research has been directed in this area and so here are a couple of ideas for motivating your team.

1. Employees Respond To Positive Energy

As any top business motivational speaker will tell you, receiving praise from coworkers is music to a person’s ears. People love to be made aware that they’re doing a great job and will respond very positively to comments about their remarkable work. This will work with the not so wonderful employees as well; but you’ll need to let it happen over a longer period of time. Once a person like this sees that you’ve noticed their good work, you’ll notice their attitude about work will begin to change for the better.

2. Reaping Rewards

A very straightforward way to motivate staff is by publicly complimenting them on their outstanding work. If done correctly within earshot of coworkers, you’ll multiply the effectiveness of a praiseful comment by many times. And the occasional small gift can do wonders for someone’s viewpoint on their job. And bear in mind this should be done as close to the ‘event’ as possible—it will magnify the effectiveness of your praise if you tell the person as soon as possible after the fact.

3. Make Training Investments

Sharpening the skills of your workers through training sessions can be very good indeed. By paying for extra training, you’re telling to your people that you attach importance to them and are willing to invest in the improvement of their skill set. This sends comforting signals to workers and can really boost how they think about their job. And having a paid chance to get away from the normal workplace can recharge the batteries.

4. Laugh Together

Anything you can do that shakes up the organization routine can be a constructive thing in an otherwise inert office environment. If it’s possible, allow employees to do some work from home on occasion.  Or, for those folks that rarely go out; maybe running an errand or attending a meeting every so often. Bring in some donuts for the Monday morning meeting. The goal is to make your staff realize you’re thinking of them and that you want them to enjoy where they work and who they work with. Bottom line, you won’t even need to book a business motivational speaker!
