Shyness is a difficult problem to deal with. It can inhibit your ability to make friends, prevent you from making dates, or even getting a better job. Take these pointers and begin to implement them in order to overcome shyness.
Begin overcoming shyness by thinking small. You can’t learn how to stop being shy all at once. If you try, you will end up frustrated and under a great deal of pressure. The best way to approach your issues with shyness is to begin by taking one step at a time. Make an extensive list of every situation in which you find yourself feeling shy.
Different situations trigger a shy reaction for different people. Some people simply cannot talk with someone of the opposite sex. Short conversations are usually a lot easier than in-depth, soul searching conversations. Conversations with one individual are usually easier than conversations with a group. Keep this in mind.

If talking to family and friends doesn’t make you feel shy, do not include it on your list. If, however, you get nervous talking to your friends, include that on your list.
Some people find it difficult to make a small conversation with a store clerk. Others find it difficult to talk to someone of the opposite sex. It is up to you to sort out what triggers your shyness, only then can you begin to address the issues one at a time. You should look at the first situation on your list, and determine to find a way to put yourself into that shyness causing situation every day.
By facing your shyness, you will eventually be able to overcome it. Begin to make small talk with store clerks or those around you in line. Just begin with an easy line or two. You will find most people willing to engage in small talk. Intentionally place yourself in uncomfortable social situations in order to overcome shyness.
