Self Esteem Affirmations: 3 Steps To Making Them Work
Are you seeking a simple yet effective way to build your self esteem? Have you considered using self esteem affirmations? Positive affirmations are an effective strategy for developing self esteem and for becoming a self-reliant person. This is because positive affirmations empower you with the ability to change your old mindset and your inner dialogues upon which your low self-esteem is built. So why aren’t many people using this method? This is because many people are not aware of the power of their own affirmations that can be used to achieve the desired results.
The good news is, there is a simple system you can follow to develop positive affirmations which give solid results. In this article you will discover a simple way to write and use your own self esteem affirmations effectively.
1. Describe Your Standards
Before writing down your self esteem affirmations, you need to describe your standards first for improving self-esteem. For instance, what is your idea of an individual who has positive self esteem? Next, set the standards upon which your affirmations will be built by watching the behaviors of an individual of good confidence. Remember that the importance of this step is to impress your brain with a picture, or directions, of what your idea of having self esteem looks like.
Then your subconscious (which is what you target to influence using your affirmations) responds to instructions. Be as detailed as possible and one suggestion on how to do that is by describing specific actions which are identified with positive self esteem. For instance, speaking to stranger naturally, communicating effectively. Make sure you have written down a list of actions that you believe to represent a confident person.
2. Follow The Formula Of Positive Affirmations
There are four principles with which your self esteem affirmations need to comply. First, they have to be in the present tense; secondly, they have to be affirmative; thirdly, they have to be in the first person; and lastly, they have to be action driven (i.e. accordig to the actions as described in step one). Here are some examples:
“I’m assertive in my business negotiations.”
“I approach strangers and engage them in conversations with ease.”
“I’m great at closing sales.”
Notice how the four principles are applied in the above self esteem affirmations:
They’re all in the present tense
They’re all affirmative
They’re all in the first person
They all involve a specific action
Once you write your affirmations following these guidelines, there’s only one thing left to do, and that is:
3. Say Your Affirmations
Applying self esteem affirmations is a gradual process that needs to be done on a regular and consistent basis. To get better results, practice your affirmations once in the mornig and once at night. This is an important step because you are practically teaching your mind to achieve things following the given direction. This no different from how you train your body to make it fit. In both cases, regular practice is required.
So practice your positive affirmations daily. You can write new ones to accomplish other goals. This is a life-long commitment, and you will develop a sense of great confidence which is a natural part of you.
