Just sit quietly, by yourself, and clear your mind of all thoughts. If you can do this out in nature, so much the better. Being present in the natural world is a revitalizing experience.

After a time, you will learn to quiet your conscious mind and become more open to input from other, more subtle sources. These subtle voices are sources of information that are normally overwhelmed by the buzz and roar of modern life, not to mention the ceaseless chatter of your conscious mind. While these sources usually remain unheard, they are more attuned to your inner feelings and needs than your conscious mind.
