Your self-image and happiness are largely in part due to the choices you have made in your life. Why would anyone consciously choose to be unhappy, or overweight? The fact of the matter is, while there are outside factors impacting life, most of the time your life is solely dependent on the choices you make for yourself.

Realize your potential by knowing what you are capable of doing. On a sheet of paper, or your computer screen, make a few lists. These lists will include things you are great at doing. Write it all out, regardless of how small you think it is. Do you have a passion for designing girls polo shirts, or enjoy drawing, or have a talent for math? Get to know yourself through this list.

Now, make a list of all the things you like to do, but are not really talented in. You may enjoy creating men wedding bands, but are not too good at it. That’s fine, the point of this exercise is to get to know yourself, your talents, and the things that bring you joy.

Compare these two lists. Can you match up your strengths with what you enjoy doing? How can you create a link between these two lists? The goal is to do something long term that you enjoy, rather than dread.

Doing something you enjoy will help you keep moving forward, instead of the constant feeling of being stuck you may feel now. When you are doing something you consider to be fun, it becomes less of a chore. You will look forward to getting up in the morning. You will be more productive, creative and happy.

This is true if you are trying to start your own business or learning how to reduce tummy fat. If you are trying to lose weight, find methods of exercise you find fun. Learn healthy and tasty new dishes as alternatives to unhealthy meals. Be creative in reaching your goals.

Make sure your goals are clearly defined. Create mini-goals along your journey. If you have a big goal like losing 50 pounds, make sure you have smaller goals in place to help you reach your ultimate aim. Set attainable goals to help you be successful. If you set unrealistically high goals, you will not be able to reach them immediately and feel disappointed. In order to avoid disappointment and avoid failure, set small, attainable goals to help you on your longer journey.
